When I go into nature to recharge, I notice that I begin to feel more connected to the natural cycles and rhythm of the earth. I feel in sync with the heartbeats of the living being beneath my feet. My desire was to expand my offerings and take my reiki outdoors where I can blend the art of energy medicine with the elements of the natural world.
A few month ago, in early August I took a client out to Fort Cronkhite and Rodeo beach in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in California. I suggested this place because I have been going there my entire life and my connection to this special place is grounding and energizing. To begin our two-hour long session of peaceful healing and introspection amongst the hardy coastal flora, we began by taking a meditative hike up to a labyrinth that must have been built in the last ten years. We both walked the labyrinth as we silently invoked an intention for that day’s healing.
After enjoying the glorious view of the deep blue ocean and the dancing blanket of fog graced the sea and land; we slowly made our way back to the beach. I laid out a blanket and we had a snack and relaxed a bit watching the seabirds and surfers, and then I began the reiki treatment. My client lay comfortably with an eye pillow over her eyes, and lit some incense and placed stones and crystals on each chakra area, and then began my hands-on healing. Following the healing session, I used my buffalo drum and rattle around her auric field to cleanse her of any energy that might be lingering and not serving her any longer. This also helps to seal in the reiki so that it continues working even after the session is over.
During the session I had noticed that more people started to fill up the beach and I started to feel a little self-conscious. I continued to stay in my meditative state, breathing in the negative ions that were floating through the air, noticing that some people were peering over at us. There was a part of me that was concerned that my client might be distracted by the increasing sounds of nearby humans, however after the session concluded she said that she had gone into a deep relaxed state which I was grateful to hear.
During this particular outing and a few others this past year, I learned that it is optimal to conduct the reiki session in an area that is in a more secluded nature spot. If you are interested in this beautiful service and would like to bask in reiki and nature for your healing, please also know that I will choose a spot that I am experienced with and will be quiet and serene and will give your body and spirit the release and love it needs.
